Okta forms 12-vendor Blueprint Alliance at Oktane, ships Agent SSO

Okta, AWS, Google Cloud, Salesforce and eight other vendors co-authored an open reference architecture for governing enterprise AI agents; Agent SSO ships GA.

Okta opened Oktane 2026 in Las Vegas on Monday by naming eleven co-signatories to a new Blueprint Alliance, a 12-vendor coalition publishing an open reference architecture for governing enterprise AI agents. AWS, Google Cloud, Salesforce, ServiceNow, CrowdStrike, Databricks, Docker, Lovable, Proofpoint, Wiz and Zscaler signed the framework alongside Okta. GE Appliances and World Central Kitchen came on as strategic advisers. Microsoft, OpenAI and Anthropic didn’t.

The absences matter. What Okta and its partners are proposing is essentially a rival governance stack to Microsoft Entra, built by the vendors whose platforms sit under most enterprise sales, service and revenue workflows. The framework commits members to six shared principles and to existing standards including MCP, the Open Cybersecurity Schema Framework, Shared Signals, and the Continuous Access Evaluation Profile. It asks four operational questions of every agent, the identity-management equivalent of know-your-customer.

Alongside the alliance, Okta shipped Agent SSO, Agent-to-Agent Connections and Resource Access Certifications to general availability, extending Cross App Access, which it first debuted in June 2025. An Agent Gateway and Shadow AI Agent Discovery for Endpoints are slated for Q3; a Configuration Designer and an expanded runtime Kill Switch follow in Q4.

The commercial logic is legible enough. Gartner projects the average Fortune 500 will run more than 150,000 agents by 2028, and only 13% of organizations believe they’ve adequate governance in place today. Okta CEO Todd McKinnon told the investor summit that Okta for AI Agents is pricing 25% to 37.5% above base platform on sizable deals, with Ramp, Yahoo and Dell already on the roster and one insurance customer upgrading within a week of a proof of concept. CRO Jon Runyard described three sales-team specializations built around the category. IBM is the named rival.

“The challenge businesses face is the same access that makes agents powerful also makes them dangerous,” said Ric Smith, Okta’s president of products and technology. CrowdStrike chief business officer Daniel Bernard put the coalition logic more plainly: “No single technology or vendor can secure the agentic era alone.”

Standards fights rarely announce themselves as standards fights. They arrive as press releases about interoperability, and the winners are decided by who signed first.
