Meta's Q3 Print Wednesday Is a Verdict on Advantage+'s $75B Run Rate
Analysts expect $63.24B in revenue and a 9.8% EPS decline, with Advantage+ ad returns the swing variable for small-business Q4 budgets.
Meta Platforms reports Q3 2026 earnings after the close on Wednesday, October 21, and the Zacks consensus wants $63.24 billion in revenue (up 23.4% year over year) against $6.54 in EPS, down 9.8%. Meta’s own guidance set a $61–$64 billion band assuming a roughly 1% FX headwind. The number everyone will actually read for is Advantage+, the AI-driven ad stack Zacks pegged at a $75 billion annual run rate exiting Q2.
That matters because Q2’s internals were already strained. Ad impressions grew 14% and average price per ad climbed 12%, carrying revenue to $60.8 billion (+28%). Free cash flow was $784 million. Meta is guiding 2026 capex to $130–$145 billion against a trailing four-quarter figure near $90 billion. The spending curve has gone vertical; the cash curve has gone flat.
Goldman Sachs estimates the five AI hyperscalers will spend roughly $1.2 trillion on capex next year. Kevin Shea of BNY Wealth framed the open question to Reuters as whether hyperscaler profitability can outrun the capex curve. Wednesday’s print is one of the first clean reads on that question since Q2 made the gap legible.
For the small-business advertiser, this isn’t a sector-rotation story. It’s a Q4 budget decision. Advantage+ either converts well enough to absorb the 12% price-per-ad creep, or CPMs rise while ROAS doesn’t, and ad dollars start looking elsewhere. Amazon has rolled out an autonomous ad agent to all U.S. sellers with claims of 67% higher returns, which is less a direct substitute than a signal that the AI-ad category is now a scoreboard, not a thesis.
The market has already hedged. META is up 7.5% year to date against 15.8% for the Zacks Computer & Technology sector, with a forward price-to-sales of 6.1x versus the Internet Software industry’s 4.22x, a market cap near $1.8 trillion, and a Zacks Rank of 3 (Hold). That’s the posture of investors who believe the capex but want to see the conversion math. Wednesday either produces it or doesn’t.
