Meta Q3 lands tonight with Advantage+ at $75B run rate — small businesses face a reset ad market

Meta reports after the close Wednesday. Q2 showed ad impressions up 14% and prices up 12%, with Advantage+ at a $75B annual run rate and 9M small businesses using its AI creative tools.

Meta Platforms reports Q3 2026 after the close Wednesday against its own guidance range of $61 billion to $64 billion and a Zacks consensus of $63.24 billion, implying 23.42% year-over-year revenue growth. The number itself is less interesting than what sits underneath it: an advertising auction that has quietly reorganized around a single AI product.

That product is Advantage+, Meta’s automated targeting-and-creative suite, which crossed a $75 billion annual run rate in Q2 per Zacks’ preview. Nine million small businesses are now running at least one of Meta’s AI creative tools, according to Motley Fool’s read of recent disclosures. The Q2 8-K filed July 29 told the rest of the story in two numbers: ad impressions across the Family of Apps up 14% year over year, and average price per ad up 12%. Family of Apps ad revenue hit $59.36 billion, a 27% jump.

A 12% hotter auction isn’t a neutral event for an owner-operator funding Facebook and Instagram spend out of monthly cash flow. It’s a tax on manual campaign management, collected by whichever advertisers let Meta’s models do the bidding, the lookalike expansion, and the creative permutation. Zacks’ preview notes early LLM-based ad initiatives delivered a 1% lift in app-event conversions on Instagram. Small, until you compound it across every auction a competitor wins.

The capex side is where the market gets nervous. Meta narrowed full-year 2026 capex to $130–$145 billion from a prior $125–$145 billion, and Q2 alone absorbed $31.08 billion per the 8-K. Zacks’ Q3 EPS consensus of $6.54 bakes in a 9.79% year-over-year decline, essentially the depreciation bill arriving before the AI revenue fully offsets it.

This is the same structural compression now visible on Amazon, where the Unboxed ad agent is rolling out to all U.S. sellers. Two platforms, one direction of travel: the manual advertiser is paying the AI advertiser’s development bill.

Wednesday’s commentary on Advantage+ pricing is the number to watch. If management reiterates the ~12% pricing trajectory, the 2027 CPA map for small-business advertisers is already drawn.
