Salesforce to Buy Braze for $5.66B, Pulling Real-Time Engagement Into Agentforce
CRM slipped 2.6% premarket and BRZE closed up 51% at $45.57 after Salesforce agreed to pay $47.50 a share — a 58% premium — for the AI customer-engagement platform.
Salesforce agreed Tuesday to acquire Braze for $5.66 billion, paying $47.50 a share in cash, a 58% premium to Monday’s $30.04 close. BRZE finished up more than 51% at $45.57 after a brief premarket halt; CRM slipped 2.6%.
It’s Salesforce’s fifth-largest acquisition, slotted behind last year’s $8 billion Informatica deal and alongside 2026’s purchases of Listen Labs and Fin, the AI customer-service platform picked up for roughly $3.6 billion only months ago. Axios reads the sequence plainly: an admission that Salesforce’s Marketing Cloud could use some seeding.
Braze brings in roughly 2,770 customers, including Canva, Dairy Queen, Equinox, Instacart, Urban Outfitters, and Venmo, plus a real-time engagement engine that, per the Salesforce release, powers trillions of messages and journey actions each year. The BrazeAI decisioning layer will fold into the four-tier Salesforce stack: Data 360, Customer 360 with Marketing Cloud, Agentforce, and SIForce.
“Bringing that capability together with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, CRM, and Data 360 will deliver that wow moment in every customer interaction,” said Patrick Stokes, Salesforce President of Applications and Marketing.
The deal is the third beat in a pattern that’s become hard to miss. Salesforce has already put an outbound AI agent on every Sales Cloud seat, while HubSpot rewired its pricing from seats to outcomes. The AI-engagement stack is being assembled into bundles, and the bundles are being priced for enterprise buyers who can metabolize them.
Braze was the independent mid-market option. The deal is expected to close in Salesforce’s fiscal 2028, after which renewals become Salesforce negotiations inside an Agentforce-aligned roadmap. The strategic read is less about Braze than about what’s left standing: fewer standalone engagement platforms, more enterprise suites, and a narrowing menu for the small-team operator who wanted messaging infrastructure without buying a four-layer architecture to go with it.
The Informatica playbook suggests the integration will be slower than the pitch deck. The pricing letter will arrive faster.
