Salesforce's Hunter agent sets AI-outbound bar at Dreamforce, taps Apollo's 240M contacts

Hunter, Salesforce's long-horizon outbound sales agent, is in pilot with GA slated for November — pairing with Apollo's contact network to set an enterprise baseline small teams can't easily match.

Salesforce opened Dreamforce 2026 in San Francisco on Tuesday by naming its outbound sales agent Hunter the flagship of a new long-horizon Agentforce runtime, with an early customer, Perk, telling Salesforce that 60% of its sales pipeline is now built by the agent. A September 11 newsroom post describes Hunter working “from research to outreach, collaborating with sellers over weeks and months,” and cites objectives as concrete as rescuing at-risk deals before the end of the quarter. General availability is scheduled for November 2026. Coverage of the full seven-agent lineup lives here.

The data layer arrived first. Apollo was announced Monday as flagship data partner, wiring 240 million contacts into Hunter through seven prospecting actions and a claimed 98% email accuracy rate. Per Apollo’s announcement, Salesforce customers can access the contact network directly through Hunter “even if they are not Apollo customers.” The pre-event stack context laid out how tightly this bundle was being pre-sold.

The financial backdrop rewards the framing. Salesforce reported $1.5 billion in Agentforce ARR and 3.2 billion Agentic Work Units in Q2, a 97% sequential jump, per Yahoo Finance. CRM traded up roughly 2% Monday to $252.73 intraday. The runtime itself leans on memory across sessions, durable execution, and dynamic steering, the machinery required to keep an agent coherent for weeks rather than a single prompt cycle.

The strategic read is where this gets uncomfortable for smaller shops. Hunter presumes a Salesforce CRM of record, an Agentforce work-unit budget, and now an Apollo-grade data layer. That stack is priced for the enterprise. A 5-to-30-person B2B team without a Salesforce contract is watching the outbound baseline move to autonomous, persistent, data-rich prospecting it can’t buy at parity.

Done-for-you services aimed at owner-led companies address the same customer-growth job, continuous prospect research, buying-signal evaluation, and prepared outreach, without a CRM contract or seat math. LemonLime, for instance, is priced at $999/month for a single business, studies a company’s industry and competitors, and prepares outreach the owner approves before sending.

Whether Hunter’s November GA reshapes vendor choice outside Salesforce’s installed base is the real question underneath the keynote applause.
