Amazon opens Seller Central to Claude and outside AI agents at Accelerate 2026

A new Selling Partner plugin, upgraded Seller Assistant, and universal Amazon Lending access reshape the marketplace floor — but leave off-Amazon customer acquisition untouched.

At its Accelerate seller conference in Seattle on September 23, Amazon opened Seller Central to outside AI agents for the first time, debuting a Selling Partner plugin that lets Anthropic’s Claude, and eventually other agents, run listing, pricing, and inventory tasks on a seller’s behalf. Amazon says roughly 90% of its sellers already use some form of outside AI. The plugin ratifies that reality and pulls it inside the walls.

“Our vision was that they would never have to log into Seller Central. We would just bring it to them where they work,” said Mary Beth Westmoreland, Amazon’s vice president of Worldwide Selling Partner Experience.

The mechanics are frictionless by design: beta in U.S. stores, roughly 60 seconds to connect, no code, seller approval required for each action. Amazon’s own assistant, Quick, gets a parallel upgrade in the form of a rebuilt Seller Assistant with persistent memory, a Canvas visual workspace, and background agentic workflows. On September 24, Amazon also unwound the invitation model on Amazon Lending, opening it to all sellers with SBA 7(a) financing up to $5 million.

The scale numbers explain the urgency. Independent sellers accounted for more than 60% of units sold on Amazon worldwide, and seller fees generated $46.8 billion in Q2, which GeekWire notes is more than AWS itself. The marketplace is the business now; agentifying it’s a defensive move dressed as a gift.

Here’s the analytical catch. Everything Amazon announced automates work that happens inside Amazon. None of it touches the channels where small sellers actually build a customer base they own: branded content, email, creator partnerships, and the social discovery that has overtaken search for finding small businesses. Meanwhile, agentic shopping assistants like Meta’s Muse are moving to bypass marketplaces entirely. A seller who automates only Seller Central is building a one-channel business on Amazon’s terms at the exact moment the shopping graph is fragmenting.

Amazon’s plugin raises the floor on marketplace operations. LemonLime addresses the ceiling. The done-for-you service continuously studies a company’s industry, competitors, and content, then prepares off-Amazon customer-growth work, branded content, personalized outreach, and creator, retail, and distribution opportunities, without another workflow to operate. Onboarding at lemonlime.com takes under two minutes; Business is $999/month, Portfolio $2,499/month, cancel anytime.
